Nice work

Yesterday started a new chapter in my life. I was notified two weeks ago of my job being eliminated. Oddly enough, this was an answer to prayer.
For the past two years my heart has been pulled towards two things - international missions and using photography to tell stories of people’s lives. Basically, it’s time for something new. I’ve been in the corporate world for 22+ years and I believe I am being called to try a change.
Six months ago my wife and I really started praying about what this change would mean and talked about sacrifices we would need to make and other adjustments to consider. About two months ago my former employer announced they would be doing a “restructure” and it would affect about 6500 people. At that moment I had this feeling that I would be one of those.
We started reworking the budget and making some changes. It was also really cool to see how God took care of some expenses. For example, our house payment dropped by $500 a month without us initiating anything. There was an error in calculating our escrow amount. A few other things like this really showed us that God was in control.
My wife and I prayed that if this was to happen, the best case scenario would be with a severance package. Sure enough, on day one of the layoff notifications, I received a note from my boss that she wanted to meet. It was that time. I was laid off with a very nice severance package.
At this point in my life, it is a blessing to receive this opportunity. An opportunity to make a change, to start a new career, to evaluate my heart and see where God is calling me. I am excited…but there are some nervous moments…but God is in control.
So, where will I land? What will be my next job? My next career? Not really sure right now. Lots of ideas and dreams. Stay tuned as I start this new journey. It will be exciting to see where God takes us.
Check this out! A must attend if you are a storyteller.
